The Ned, London

We recently visited The Ned, bang in the heart of the City and fell in love! Opening last month to great excitement, we loved the art deco/city atmosphere and the history you feel from this ex-bank. They’ve even kept the vault which is now a bar for members and hotel guests. Worthy of special mention is the roof top pool and bar, which again is reserved purely for members and guests staying overnight. The view is simply fantastic.

The Silo, Cape Town

The much-anticipated boutique hotel on the V&A waterfront opened in March with 28 luxurious rooms. The Silo is a project from hotelier Liz Biden and is set in a 1920s grain silo which has been converted by London-based Heatherwick Studio – and it is a stunner! Again you’ll find an awesome rooftop with restaurant, champagne bar and glass swimming pool and more incredible views.

The hotel will sit above the Zeitz Museum of Contemporary Art Africa, which opens in September 2017. This modern art museum is set to rival other big-name galleries around the world, such as the Tate Modern. Guests at the Silo will have private access to the museum’s collections.

Nobu Ibiza Bay, Balearic Islands

This hotel hasn’t even opened yet – you’ll have to wait until the end of the month but already we are excited. Ibiza Bay will offer a seductive blend of laid-back luxury, fabulous service and high-energy nightlife. Spend your days lounging between the two pools, just steps from the beach. Stroll along the promenade to the trendy boutiques and clubs of nearby Marina Botafoch or the authentic shops and tapas bars of Ibiza Old Town.

Ibiza Bay will be home to the island’s only Nobu Restaurant. After sunset it will transform into a chic night-spot where the mojitos flow and the soft sounds of down tempo house music fill the air.

1 Hotel Brooklyn Bridge, New York

This hotel was designed by local artists and is set in an uber cool area of Brooklyn. Opening earlier this year, this eco luxury boutique follows a seriously sustainable ethos. More than half of the materials used to build it were ‘reclaimed’ – including pine floors pulled out from an old Kentucky distillery and beams from a closed-down Brooklyn sugar factory. The rooftop pool and bar is made from salvaged railroad ties.

Its rooms are airy and art-filled and you’ll find a lovely guests-only lounge on the third floor. Also a cellar-level cinema room and an all-natural Bamford Spa. There’s also a plunge pool up on the tenth floor that looks out over the East River.

Wild Coast Tented Lodge, Sri Lanka

Opening this year, this luxurious tented lodge sits on a deserted beach on the edge of Yala National Park, the Leopard hot spot in southeastern Sri Lanka. The 28 luxurious “Cocoon” tents are air-conditioned and some have their own plunge pools.

The tents are dotted around five watering holes which are designed to attract birds and amphibians, and can be viewed from each Cocoon’s outdoor viewing deck. The lodge is great for families and some Cocoons come with an adjoining twin-bedded children’s ‘Urchin’ tent. We think the whole experience looks a lot of fun but in total comfort – which is the way we like it!

Rosewood Luang Prabang, Laos

For another immersive experience in a luxurious environment, look no further than Rosewood Luang Prabang which will open in 2017 as a luxury tent and villa encampment located a short drive from the historic city of Luang Prabang, a UNESCO World Heritage Site in Laos.

This earthy, Lao-inspired forest retreat is an interesting move for Rosewood, best known for its upscale city hotels like The Carlyle in New York.

The resort is flanked by dense forests, rivers and waterfalls and will have 22 spacious villas and luxury tents with open-air showers, baths and living rooms. The 100-square-meter luxury tents, with their own private dining areas and wrap-around decks, will be a first for Rosewood.
