There are 12 beaches to choose from, making the boundary-blurring merge of villa, beach and sea, one of the resort’s most endearing features. The elements are truly never more than a step or two away, from a languid arrival by yacht atop shimmering cerulean waters from Malé, and diving with sharks and manta rays, to lingering over plant-based menus amongst the gardens at the Botanica restaurant, or strolling between the three pools, shaded by lush vegetation. At 44 hectares, this private island is explorable on bike and foot, or for something a little more thrilling, your Travel Designer can arrange a seaplane sightseeing tour or a catamaran cruise of untouched beaches and breathtaking sunsets.

One&Only Cape Town adds far more drama to the classic luxury city break with a cosmopolitan location at the entrance to the V&A Waterfront, world-class restaurants, including southern Africa’s only Nobu, located within the hotel and the iconic Table Mountain just beyond the marina. It’s an urban resort, certainly, but one where mountain and ocean adventures are only moments away.

Despite its grandeur, One&Only Cape Town enjoys a deeply atmospheric setting, designed for complete cultural immersion. Rooms are divided between the main building, overlooking the waterfront, and a palm-punctuated private island. From the hotel, we can arrange activities such as hiking in the Table Mountain National Park and driving Chapman’s Peak between Noordhoek and Hout Bay, paired with gallery visits and boutique shopping.
