Capella, Ubud
Many of our clients have been visiting Bali for years, loving the relaxation, seclusion and laid-back atmosphere. But we have news of a super-cool new hideaway – that takes the restorative effects of a Bali break to a new level.

Capella, Ubud
It’s at Capella Ubud, and the setting is simply wonderful. Not so much a traditional resort as a tented encampment – the sort of remote settlement adventurous European traders would have been familiar with on their extended travels. The situation of the 23 individual accommodation tents guarantees stunning outlooks over unspoilt rainforest jungle, the nearby Wos river, and the rice paddy terraces.
The aura was created by Indonesia-based architect Bill Bensley who stipulated, for example, that not a single tree was cut down to make way for his work. There’s a refreshing breeze most of the time, and the quality of light is amazing.
If you’re feeling wound-up by life then this place is going to rebuild you from the inside. Every one of the sumptuous tents comes with its own saltwater pool and deck. We love the concept of Ubud’s 24-hour ‘Confined to Quarters’ wellness programme; great for your arrival and instant rejuvenation using yoga, spa pampering, spiritual healing and nourishing, organic cuisine – all provided inside your tented oasis.
After that, there’s masses to enjoy, from helping the on-site chef in his traditional, local cooking tasks to high-impact mountain-biking expeditions or low-impact temple visits, mud pilates and walks to sacred local springs. The Officer’s Tent is the camp’s living room, open all day to you for refreshment or contented lounging around. Back at base, the tented, fully-equipped gym is always at your disposal, and the unforgettable days usually end around the campfire before, maybe, a ‘potion’ nightcap in the Pestle & Mortar bar. If, that is, you’re not setting out under the crystal-clear night sky for a jungle trek…
