Into the Wild: 3 Kenya Safaris

With increased direct access from London to Nairobi in 2026, Kenya has never been more accessible for travellers seeking immersive safari experiences in East Africa. But Kenya is so much more than the classic aesthetics of game drives across the Maasai Mara. This is a country of vast contrasts: wildlife-rich conservancies, deeply rooted indigenous cultures, remote deserts, snow-capped mountains and white-on-turquoise coastline, best experienced slowly, with intent.

Here, we showcase three bespoke safaris, from a classic multi-generational safari and romantic under-canvas adventures to expeditions into Kenya’s ancient northern frontier.

Each itinerary has been thoughtfully designed by 360 and our local partners, but every element can be tailored entirely around how you want to travel.

A Multi-Generational Safari Across Kenya

Wildlife, Coastline & Family Adventure

Kenya is one of Africa’s most rewarding family safari destinations, not solely because of its remarkable wildlife, but because of the sheer diversity of landscapes and experiences. This itinerary introduces you to the wild conservancies of Laikipia and the game-rich plains of the Maasai Mara and ends on the white sands of the Indian Ocean. You’ll enjoy early morning wildlife tracking, alongside horseback safaris, night drives and fascinating visits to local communities to learn about their conservation efforts. Days end with dinners, crafted from locally grown produce and sundowners that blend into campfire talks beneath vast, star-scattered skies.

Safari Style: Conservancy Lodges, Maasai Cottages & Serene Coastal Hideaways

Your safari begins at El Karama Lodge in Laikipia, a family-run lodge set along the picturesque banks of the Ewaso Nyiro River, with game drives and walking safaris, alongside helicopter safaris and fly-fishing in high-altitude lakes. In the Maasai Mara, House in the Wild offers a private safari experience, with cottages complete with outdoor baths and a wide veranda overlooking the Enonkishu Conservancy. There are varied wildlife encounters here, following the migration routes of wildebeest and zebra, and conservation and community remain deeply connected to the experience.

A final stop at Kinondo Kwetu on Kenya’s southern coast takes you beneath the waves of the Indian Ocean for snorkelling and deep-sea diving. 360’s Travel Designers specifically suggest the Mama Taa Villa for its array of connecting rooms for families, and direct access to a serene sweep of sandy white coastline.

Kenya Under Canvas

Cultural, Romantic, Elemental

This itinerary reimagines the romance of the classic East African safari through a series of exquisitely designed under-canvas experiences, in some of Kenya’s most remote landscapes. It begins in Meru National Park, a vast wilderness of doum palms, rivers and open savannahs where elephants, buffalo, leopard, giraffe and lion roam the wild, largely undisturbed. Afterwards, you go north to the wild landscapes of Kalepo, before a final chapter in the iconic Maasai Mara, where sweeping plains and extraordinary wildlife provide a fitting finale. We’ve built in time for unhurried exploration with long game drives at golden hour, fire-lit dinners beneath the stars and mornings dedicated to tracking wildlife.

Safari Style: Exclusive Mobile Camps & Sustainable Samburu Wilderness Tents

At the heart of this safari is the sense of exclusivity and mobility presented by the camps. In Meru and the Maasai Mara, Cheli & Peacock’s beautifully appointed exclusive-use camps place you directly within the land, combining the old-world romance of traditional mobile safaris with a lavish level of comfort. Alongside traditional game drives, supported by some of Kenya’s finest guides, spotting elephants and leopards, there’ll be hot air ballooning, atmospheric bush dinners and sundowners with exquisite wilderness vistas.

kalepo-safari-camp-kenya

In Kenya’s remote Kalepo Camp, you’ll indulge in a deeply secluded experience, sleeping in silence in solar-powered tents by night and journeying by day with Samburu guides through breathtaking ancient landscapes topped by cloud-forest-covered mountains. Activities are bespoke but can include helicopter safaris, mountain biking and fascinating cultural encounters with Samburu villagers.

Kenya’s Ancient North

Wild, Remote, Exploratory

In Kenya’s ancient north, the scenery is older and more elemental: dry riverbeds, ancient forests and mountain ranges crisscrossed with migration routes. For this itinerary, we take you deep into that remote frontier, moving leisurely through the landscapes of Samburuland and the Mathews Range, where iconic African wildlife, tribal culture and geology are deeply intertwined. The focus is on immersion and exploration: walking through the wilderness with knowledgeable guides, sleeping beneath immense, star-studded skies, and journeying to some of Kenya’s remotest landscapes, places that remain almost entirely untouched by mass tourism.

Safari Style: Luxury tents on the Laikipia plains, Forest Camps & Camel-Led Walking Safaris

Your journey starts at Tumaren Camp, a tented camp positioned beneath the dramatic slopes of Mount Kenya in a 10,500-acre private conservation area. You’ll experience guided walks led by Maasai and Samburu, climbing kopjes and picnics in the open wilds, or sit back to watch the wildlife gather around the busy waterhole next to camp. Next, we track wildlife on foot, walking each day between 5 and 10 miles (8 – 16KM) with a Maasai tracker, alongside Samburu camel caravans past striking sand rivers or ‘luggas’ and lush montane forests in search of elephants, kudu and giraffe.

Loisaba Tented Camp

In the forested highlands of the Mathews Range, you join Kitich Forest Camp for a greener Kenya, lush with hundreds of bird and butterfly species and an ideal base to explore the Ndoto Mountains and Lake Turkana. The final nights are spent at Loisaba Tented Camp, set on a picturesque escarpment with spectacular views across the Laikipia plateau and the endless starry skies. Accommodation here is contemporary and polished, with airy tents benefiting from floor-to-ceiling windows that perfectly frame the landscape. Expect helicopter flights, horseback safaris and frequent sightings of Laikipia elephants, Grevy’s Zebra and Beisa Oryx.

However you’d like to experience a safari in Kenya, from lantern-lit mobile camps and remote wilderness walks to private conservancies and the sublime Indian Ocean coastline, your 360 Private Travel designer will shape every detail around how you want to travel.
